Yes, I will preface this by saying that I HATE the HP movies. In fact, I hate PoA more than any other movie ever made. I have mentioned it on this site and others and don’t really want to compound what I’m about to say with the acrid remarks I reserve solely for that film.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, while not my favorite novel, is still one of the best of the series. The MAJOR developments and MAJOR history we need to know are all right there in the book. Certainly the movie will give us the information we need to know, right? NO. I watched the first twenty minutes or so of the film, became utterly disgusted and quit it for good.

My thoughts were something like this: That didn’t happen. That isn’t what happened, THAT makes NO sense, OMFG, WHAT?!? Oh, I see Hermione still has constipation face (seriously, Emma Watson is gorgeous, but her portrayal of Hermione makes me want to avoid cheese at all costs…they should spike her pumpkin juice with castor oil), OMG, no, just no no no no no no. :evileye: Thanks to Cleolinda Jones’ [info]m15m, I now know that somehow the Weasley house gets burned by deatheaters…the fuck?!??!? There’s no way I’m ever going to finish the movie, and I’d say it’s a good bet that I won’t be seeing the final movie(s) either. Pfft.

Now you know how I felt at X-Men 3. Not that I wanted you to experience it for yourself, mind you. Just tell yourself it’s an alternate reality many many universes away from the real one.
And then imagine their sun suddenly goes supernova.

I figured X-Men 3 was more of a film loosely based on decades of material, and that’s why I guess I didn’t “get” the disgust. Yes, I now feel your pain. Actually, I’m actively angry about this. It’s been building since PoA, but it’s beyond my own pettiness now; it’s about what is just and fair in the world. OK, maybe not all that, but still, this really, really blows and ruins what could have been one of the best film sets (right up there with SW, ESB, and RotJ). I’d rather watch Twilight. Ugh.
