I was a bit meh over the prospect of yet another tight-lipped, emotionally distant genius in the mix (another sci-fi cliche that's old) but Carlyle did a really good job humanizing him. Cliff didn't annoy me but I kept thinking he was about to kiss a dude. Make that hoping. I think the fun will show up in a few eps once the immediate threat if imminent death isn't driving the plot.
