I got my Palm Pre in October and in the time since I’ve had it, I have patched it, modded it, doctored it, and loved it more than anything.

Precentral.net has everyone thinking about their top 5 patches or apps, so I thought I’d try to figure out the ones I just can’t live without. I’m leaving out the whole area of theming, as it would be impossible to rank themes (except for my own…heh).

Friends, Freebies, Food, and Fun

This weekend, Ben came down and we had one of our “old times” days. We ate at Macado’s, shopped around the mall, watched Robin Hood, True Blood, The Backyardigans (sorry, Ben!), Dexter, and RHNJ. There are probably more, but that’s all I can remember this late in the game. Our visit to Macado’s was made even better by the bill coming to -$.04. Christmas gift card in action! Our trip to Border’s was also made better by yet another old gift card. My purchase of Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Demigod Files and the Doctor Who Magazine? FREE as well. Woot! I saw a few of “my kids” which made the day even better. Good times!

Monday, Flo came up and we, too, went to Macado’s and the mall. While nothing was free, I was able to spot some wicked new shoes to purchase. I got a pair of K-Swiss sneakers and some brown utility shoes. I also splurged on some white gold hoops. LOVE them. Flo and I talked a little school, a little fashion, and a little crap about others. All-in-all? Another great day.

The fam is still on vacation, so I’m on pet patrol. It’s my job to check on everyone’s cats and make sure they are fed, watered, and litterbox ready. I feel so important.

This is a really old picture, but it’s fine because we are really old friends. On this day, many, many years ago, the most clever, witty, loyal, ginger, etc. baby was born. Though no one knew it at the time, he would grow up to inspire a generation to see the humor and beauty in others’ suffering and humiliation.

Surprising Daisies

The latest episode of PD had a very unexpected, yet very welcomed, guest star. Though the part was smallish, the detective was a true highlight for the series. It is a real shame this show is canceled. There are so many other shows I can recommend in its place that should have been canceled long ago; pretty much everything else on ABC’s schedule for starts.

Exactly a year ago, I was sick. I remember because it’s Dad’s birthday and last year I had to take the PRAXIS II test (which I aced, btw) and I was too sick to hold my head up through the examination. Anyway, I’m sick again. I’m going to stock up on vitamin C and hole up in my house for the week prior to this weekend next year. I’m putting it on the calendar now. Hmmph.

It was much more difficult to contain this picspam than I thought it would be. I could have done just Boromir and had it take two pages.

Odds and Ends

Dexter is both odd, and ending. Well, ending in the sense that I am finishing S3 today. I just read that it has been renewed for two more seasons, but I have to admit that waiting a week between episodes is going to kill me. Heh. See whut I did thar? Fantastic show, and I highly recommend it.

I want to take this moment to voice my disappointment with the photoshoots in this cycle of ANTM. They suck. There’s been a total of ONE shoot where the girls were shot alone, and their faces were smeared with colored powder for that one. Looking back to, say, cycle 2, when the shoots were inventive and still beautiful, makes me think that if ANTM doesn’t try to look back instead of trying to create some messed up future, it’s going to lose what little credibility it still has.

I’m currently awaiting the car repairman to pick up my car. I got up early for this, dude! Chop chop! Whoa, not a good thing to say to an off the books repairman…

Superpowers

If I had superpowers, I would have used them today. When the worker from the water department came to check the meters or whatever, he kept spitting tobacco juice in my yard. I would have had him first choke on the juice, and then spit it all over his shirt.

This is why I don’t think I’ll ever be granted superpowers.

Crunch Car Update

I finally got off my duff and called someone to come out and give me an estimate on my car. Turns out I’m looking at just under $700. I don’t even know what my deductible is, but even if it’s only $500.00, I’m probably better off just paying cash and not turning it in. I’m actually relieved because I thought it would be at least double this amount. So I told the guy to go ahead and get the parts and then the best part happened: He said that as soon as they come in, he’ll come get the car and fix it. He’ll come get it! I don’t even have to leave the house. Awesome!

The drawback to this wonderful news? I am expected to be without car the rest of the week and this weekend, and will have to borrow one, thus, limiting my travel plans.

NCAA Worst Case Scenario

Much like most people love their children, my brother has an almost unnatural love for sports and sports teams; specifically Wake Forest, Ohio State, Denver Broncos, and the hometeam, WVU.

Wake, Ohio State, and WVU all lost their games yesterday in the first round of NCAA March Madness. I liken it to the Pushing Daisies situation, but imagine if ALL your favorite shows got canceled early…devastation, no?

I can’t even imagine what he’ll be like today. My guess is that he won’t get out of bed all day. He owns about three shirts that don’t feature one of the aforementioned teams, so I’m sure he won’t get dressed. I feel so badly for him, but at least now he can watch the rest of the games without the anxiety he always feels when one of his teams is playing. It’s no real consolation, but it’s something.

My Ashley is engaged! I just don’t even know where to begin here. It seems like yesterday we were obsessing over Anakin and Harry Potter and here she is, all grown up. Here’s to a lifetime of love come easy and happiness.

I hate, with a fiery passion, Presidential addresses. With the availability on online resources, there is absolutely no need for networks to cover every little thing a president has to say. If anything important comes to light, I’ll be more than happy to catch it on, I don’t know, one of the twenty so news channels or on msnbc.com.

It’s time for Heroes, dammit. Get with the program!

What To Do With A Snow Day

We’ve had some snow, but not enough (I thought), for a snow day, but here we are. I’m always pleased to have the opportunity to sleep past 4:30am, but I think I might have been better suited (at least mentally) to get back to work.

I’ve spent the morning envying Obama and his inclusion into the club of American secrets (i.e. the Stargate) and wishing that I could have a glimpse of all the unknown facets of the world I call home. I’ve also wondered how hard it would be to knit my own sweaters.
