In an effort to change things up a bit, I moved all the furniture in the living room. I’ve moved rooms around for the last twenty years, but my new house is rather limiting in how I can arrange things without encountering a door or a vent of some kind. I finally figured out a decent floorplan, but I didn’t anticipate one thing: Cats.
Hobbit and Istar were NOT pleased with the new arrangement. Well, in all fairness, Istar spends 98% of his day confused, so I can’t really blame the move for his oddness. Hobbit, however, has not stopped letting me know that she is not impressed. She’s been very surprisingly vocal about her dislike. She stood at the former location of the couch and howled. She refused to nap on the couch in it’s new location. She shot death rays from her eyes at every chance. I just can’t have my Hob so upset.
Today, I moved it all back.

For ages now, people living in my area have been unable to get NBC via satellite TV because our lawmakers have nothing better to do than legislate against it. Srsly. Anyway, thanks to my quick thinking, I devised a plan to use the new digital conversion box connected to a small, tech-y antenna my dad gave me years ago, and VOILA! I was finally able to watch Heroes first run on a real TV, lying on the couch, and not sitting hostage-style in my kitchen watching on an old, turndial TV that made everyone appear green or yellow, depending on the wind.
Victory is MINE!

Guess who just burned up dinner as well as her cutesy chef burner cover!
This is not the first time I’ve done something like this–actually it is the first time I’ve also ruined dinner while incinerating a burner cover, but it was just Rice-a-Roni, so I guess it’s no huge loss. Still….
I guess I’ll have to make a dinner of the truffles my mom brought me this evening. Thanks, Mom!

I’m re-reading OoTP–again. I’m surprised by how much I enjoy reading it, but with the details of the movie coming in, I want to be sure I KNOW the story as written, and not as seen through a screenwriter, director, actor, etc. I’m going to pace myself, though, so I’m not finished in a day or two.
With the below freezing temperatures, I’m reminded that my heater isn’t working properly. The temperature stays the correct level in every room except the living room, where I have no vent. I covered the vent to place the armoire over it, and I haven’t gotten around to adding a new vent. Mom said we’d put one in this weekend, so I guess I get to learn about jigsaws and heating ducts. Yay!
Hobbit and Istar are, well, fighting a lot. I *think* they’re playing and it looks like Hob’s fighting back more. I’m glad to see her fight and not run, because he needs to be put in his place sometimes. Overall, it’s a nice little vibe. I do think, however, that he suffers from Stockholm Syndrome or something. He will bite the hell out of Hobbit, me, the furniture, and anything else he can target until I give him a bath. Normally, cats will fight to the death to get out of taking baths, but he LOVES it. After getting a bath, he purrs and calms down and becomes the sweetest thing in the world. Yep, I now have two insane kitties.
I made just under $80 this weekend selling junk. What’s even better is the fact that most of my profit came from items that had been in my house when I purchased it such as curtains, a painting, trinkets, etc. 100% profit on those things! Yay! I’m planning on using my new money at Dragon*Con for autographs, so watch out, Ba’al, Teal’c, Xander, and the rest…I’m headed your way!
I’ve purged tons of themes from the site and settled on Hobbiton as the default at least for now. Chances are I’ll do a Stargate theme of some kind, but then again, I may just sit for a bit.
My home improvement efforts continue and I have added the new front door that I so desperately wanted from the time I bought my house. I feel very good about it now. I *still* have to fix up Fandom Room, and I plan to work on it very soon. I have an idea about how I can hang my shelves, but since I have no practical knowledge of construction matters, I could be way off base.
My family is in San Diego for the 4th, so it looks like Hobbit and I will be having our cookout alone. Happy Independence Day!
Gee, who knew letting the LJ go would be so liberating! I’m back to posting all the nonsense of my life again. Yay!
I bought a lawn mower today. Damn, it’s nicer than my car. I also bought a weed whacker and lots of accessories to go with each of them. Of course, in my novice ways, I broke the weedeater straightaway, but it’s fixable (just not by me). Heh.
New RR/RW challenge starts tonight and we’ll see how the new faces are, though I’m doubting I’ll like it as much as the previous challenges.
Ton of work related tasks to finish this week, starting tomorrow with the bombardment of seniors with all the crap they didn’t complete aleady. Joy. The good news is that I get to hang out with Flo for a little bit, so that will be nice. Throw in some
xash13x and it’s a BCHS reunion!
