Spamalot didn’t happen because something so wonderously magnificent happened instead. One of the students located a HUGE comic store in Times Square and thought I’d like to go, and was he right! This Boromir figure just jumped ahead of my Fellowship set as my favorite item in Fandom Room. I’m so in love with it I think I could die. I also scored two SG-1 Figures. I wish they had had a Carter, but I was able to pick up the Colonel O’Neill (better looking that General, and slightly more so than Black Ops O’Neill) and Jaffa Warrior Teal’c, who just looks amazing!
Yes, it’s been a good day in NYC afterall. I’ll be home this time tomorrow, and I’m actually ready to get home ASAP.
I want to see Ben and Jesse (hopefully) on their way home from Dollywood and now that Coley is around, I want to talk to her some more, too! Shrader and I will need to hang out and, oh, you get the picture.
Once again, I’ve received more than I deserved. I am currently enjoying
di_br’s Narnia vid “Brother, Let Go” on my incredibly cool Zune, color black. Heh.
As usual, my mom and dad went all out on the gifts and bought not only the Zune, but several accessories to go with it. In about 20 minutes, I had nearly all of my favorite vids loaded. The quality is actually much better than I had heard it would be. I have noticed that my vids made larger than standard look better, but it’s because the screen is actually a little bigger than 320×240. All the fanvids I’ve put on it (about 50 so far) look and sound terrific. I’ve even decided to carry a purse so I can tote my Zune around with me at all times. I’m love it.
( The rest of the undeserved haul )
Merry Christmas, everyone, and thanks for being the great friends you are!
I got my talking Gandalf today. He sounds just.like.movie.Gandalf. So much so, I got chills hearing him say, “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!” I love it. From the UK, I also received an item I would give up smoking for. It’s a Deluxe Gift Set of the entire Fellowship, all boxed up with a map of Middle Earth and the One Ring on a chain. Nine figures plus extras = really low price. Shipping from Essex = $70. Totally worth it, though. A loose Gimli I bought also arrived today. Once my Denethor, Lurtz, and Saruman arrive, I swear I’m not buying any more toys. Seriously.
Oh it’s good to be a geek.
Ever since I started unintentionally collecting LOTR figures, I have scoured toy departments of every store I see. In the last year or so, it’s become increasingly difficult to find them. It makes sense, really, when you think that the film blitz is over and nearly every character has multiple incarnations already. But like a trooper, I haven’t given up. Imagine my glee then, in finding a NEW figure that I didn’t even know existed in my local KayBee Toystore! For the ridiculously low price of $3.99, I got a Council Legolas! I also picked up a spare Boromir at the same price (since I have, um, removed mine from the packaging…repeatedly). Through my loathe of Ebay, I even bid on, and won, a Denethor. Now all I have to do is win my Saruman and I’ll be so happy.
Yes, I am easy to please. I know it. We all know it. *g*
Not really a meme, but still swiped from

I just had a wonderful day with and ! We had lunch at Macadoo’s, which is one of my favorite local places. We shopped for quite a while, and I was able to pick up the 16-Month calendar of LOTR, the small version of the same calendar, a Shelob, Frodo, and Sam set (even though I already have a Shelob, Frodo, and a Sam..heh), a bunch of stuff for Hobbit, magazines, etc. The we hit Big Lots only to find incredibly great Halloween Village buildings. After buying several of them each (mine alone were $120.00 and I’ll post pics of my village closer to Halloween), we saw a movie.
Oh dear gawd. The Brothers Grimm was by far the worst movie I’ve ever sat through in a theater. OK, maybe it’s tied with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. POA had a reasons to earn my hatred, though, and I’ve stated them all before. TBG was just bad. Really bad. From the script, to the score, to the acting…it was just bad. Matt Damon and Heath Ledger do well enough with their roles, but their roles are stupid. There is no cohesiveness to the storyline and whoever edited this movie should never work in film again. Ben, Jesse, and I have determined that it would have made a LOT more sense if the film hadn’t been chopped up so badly. This is a Gilliam film (he of the “Chris Columbus ruined the first two HP movies” rant. HA! The irony!) and he tries way to hard to recreate TAoBM, but just can’t do it. He doesn’t even come close.
This movie isn’t even a “but” movie. Van Helsing was bad, but fun. Troy was bad, but pretty. Even Sean Bean couldn’t have saved this movie. It’s.that.bad. Do yourself a favor and just skip it altogether.
I found it! The ONE Star Wars toy I said I would buy if I ever found it. My very own 12″ Anakin/Vader figure. It comes with regular Anakin, Crispy Anakin face, and full Vader gear.
I’m such a 12 year old boy.
