Just watched ep 2: loved it! Love the new status quo. I wonder if Nathan’s absence in the New World is the same as the old. He could still come back at any time.

I know I’m on record as seriously fangirling this series, but WOW! I’m rarely a fan of Earth travels, but this was just magnificent. Even in re-watching it, I bawl. The beauty and heart of all that is good gets to me.

Now if Moffat can make me actually enjoy a space station episode, I’ll just hang up all critique from that point on.

I could simply say “ditto” to your views of both episodes. Yes, I’ll admit, with “Vincent…” I was one of those with a bit of sniffling. Not ashamed to admit it. While the starry night scene did get to me a bit, I was floored by Vincent’s visit to the museum.

Another bonus I enjoyed was the “spot the masterpiece” throughout the episode. Instead of looking for the crack (which wasn’t that hard to find in this one), I enjoyed spotting all the sets and props that were placed about, with strategic camera angles, to mirror Van Gogh’s various paintings. The bedroom scene stood out to me in particular.

I JUST saw the one direct link to them, the 4th Doctor E-space trilogy story “State of Decay” Of course, they were GIANT Vampires, but yep, directly addressed as such.

Aw, not more vampires. I can think of three previous blood drinking alien menaces off the top of my head from the old show. Each one had a completely different story linking them to Earth myths. Who knows how many more happened to Doctors (or in seasons) that I never saw.

When we watched it, I TOTALLY spaced on the Jacket issue, even to the point of me not knowing what the hell everyone else was talking about (Was it a continuity error? Timey-wimey stuff?). I’m guessing that, in the Moffat era, Re-watches are probably going to be a requirement.

Last scene: part of me is wondering if that is Steven Moffat addressing the Rose/Martha relationships. At the time, with that scene, I too thought “no no no!”, but thought it would be resolved in the next episode. In my eyes, it was.

It’s strange, I didn’t even think to look for “the Crack” in this past episode, I got so sucked into everything that was happening.

I’ve been reading the theories concerning River. Some are plausible, some are fanwank, but ultimately I think that fans are trying to read too much into things. IF River is a major part of the Doctor’s life, that’s a MAJOR directional change for the show, and I don’t think SM would do that. Or possibly he is, with him testing the waters by introducing her very slowly? If so, maybe there’s a real long-term plan, and… well, that kinda makes me uneasy.

As for the Weeping Angels? Poor soldier Bob…

Oh I noticed the blue light as well! Particularly in that bit where Amy closes the car door on the Doc’s tie, they look at each other and everything goes into a tiny bit of a slow motion for a little while.
Either it’s a clue or, I don’t know, some new artistic-y thingy from the production team? Like how series 1 used to have a sort of a yellow-ish aura.

The one little spoiler I heard has me a tad worried. I have faith that if a certain type of ep can be done well then Fringe will do it, but I still hold just the tiniest of breaths.

OMG he’s gotten SOOO big! Gosh… you go out to sea for a couple years and miss out on so much. I hope you’re doing well Jenn. I see you’ve stopped vidding too.
