I must admit it has me very excited for the movie! I seriously never like it when they go back and tell a story that is before the one already told, but I have to say that it looks like it is going to be just as good, if not better, than the original LOTR. Recently re-watched the extended editions and now im psyched for The Hobbit!

mwhahahaha! I will suck you into all my new fandoms!

*high fives my fellow Dean Girl* Honestly... I started the show convinced I was going to end up adoring Sam because: 1) He's a Geek 2) He's Hot 3) He's Got that Sweet Boy/Puppy Dog trope going on that I just eat up. 4) Did I mention he's hot? But something happened. Jensen Ackles made me fall in love with the tortured, co-dependent, hot (hot!) mess that is Dean Winchester. When he gets all protective of Sammy is my favorite. And don't even get me raving about Cas. I'll be here all week.

The meta episodes are among my favorites too. And basically anything Ben Edlund or Jeremy Caver has written for the show is a winner in my book (except the fairy episode... which was uh... odd). And the cracky crazy episodes are so much fun. I have no clue how this show manages to get away with the craziness of some of the episodes, but they do and it works. "Tall Tales" will forever be the episode I remember watching at 2am crying laughing into the pillow so I wouldn't wake my neighbors.

 I hear ya. You're absolutely not alone. I keep reminding myself that this show is supposed to intended for kids and yet... it feels dark and depressing most of the time. I did really like the episode "The Docotor's Wife" simply because it had some humor and an interesting look at the Tardis. It (at this point) seems to be a self contained story not having any significance one way or the other to the arc of the season, but as a whole I feel this season is getting too convoluted. I don't mind a good mystery and timey-wimey craziness but I kind of take offense to a show runner trying to prove on a weekly basis how much more clever he is than everyone in all of fandom. It strikes me as especially narcissistic when you consider this show really is intended for kids (or rather maybe pre-teens) at this point. Anyway, I can't pin point it exactly but the storytelling this season just rubs me the wrong way. *shrug* Maybe the second half this fall will bring it all together...?

Oh, don't get me wrong, I love Eleven and Matt Smith. I loved Amy Pond (the new companion) prior to her elevated importance. If you think Rose was bad, I can't wait until you meet Amy.

I still love the show, it's just that the alarms are ringing that the tone is more serious than I would prefer.

Yeah, I liked it but it did get a bit messy. I don't like how the machine just gets sent back but never really gets built by anybody - supposably. I was down with there being prior advanced life on Earth(s) before humans but Sam's greatgreatblahblah grandpa just discovering shit by accident is a bit off somehow. I think it's possible that they can tie it all up nice and neat, and that the stuff we're uneasy about is being left deliberately vague.

I was sort of expecting that Peter was gonna fuse the two universes into one, but that some stuff (the Walters) didn't blend right or not at all, and that next season would be all about sorting that mess out but I guess not.

It hasn't ruined it for me, but it has made clear that the originals are obviously something that's hard to live up to lol. I will still watch both because the whole idea behind the show is just amazing and I am kind of addicted to it at this point. I think they could really do a lot with the series in the US, but they seem to be content keeping it at a slow pace. I am very glad that you showed me the BBC version.

I hope you still enjoy the Syfy version, though. I'm sure I'll watch it at some point. If it gets a pickup, I'm sure there will be a lot of territory they can explore with so many more episodes.

My blog is pretty much just a bunch of ramblings; most of which are non-sensical.

I really agree with you on a lot if not all of that. I am now officially a way bigger fan of the original than the new US remake. It's hard to quit watching the BBC version. Also, I didn't know you had such an awesome blog, it's amazing!
