JOYOUS

Harper's Island Pretty cool. I definitely didn’t pick the victim this week! In addition to my previous cast mentions, I have to add Dale from the recent Flash Gordon adaptation. Geeks everywhere were like, “Hey!” The show didn’t rock my whole world, but it was just engaging enough to make me feel certain that I’ll be back next week. In this day and age, that’s almost as much as I can hope for.

whologo.jpg The new Doctor Who special, “The Planet of the Dead” airs tomorrow. Hoorah! Though I’m looking forward to it, it’s nowhere near the excitement I had week after week when the show was on weekly. I really don’t care for this format, AT ALL. I would rather have had an abbreviated season a la Torchwood than these (possibly) disjointed specials. That said, yay for new Who!

Yay, also, for having Spring Break….finally!

One.By.One.

Harper's Island It’s been a long time, a very long time, since my brother and I were both excited about a new show. Harper’s Island starts this Thursday on CBS and marks a return to classic mystery with modern twists and updated murder methodology. In the few frenzied promos, I’ve caught several familiar geek faces such as Vincent from Cafe Diem (Eureka), Brittany, the Christmas thief (Psych), and of course, the groom-to-be, Henry (Ugly Betty). Scott and I are so into the premise that we’re thinking of joining the “Pick the Victim” game on CBS’s website. We’d love to have more people in our group, so if you go for it, let us know.

HARPER’S ISLAND is about a group of family and friends who travel to a secluded island off the coast of Seattle for a destination wedding. This island is famous for a streak of unsolved murders from seven years ago. Although they’ve come to laugh and to love, what they don’t know is they’ve also come… to die. As the wedding festivities begin, friendships are tested and secrets exposed as a murderer claims victims, one by one, transforming the wedding week of fun and celebration into a terrifying struggle for survival.

In every episode, someone is killed and every person is a suspect, from the wedding party to the island locals. By the end of the 13 episodes, all questions will be answered, the killer will be revealed and only a few will survive.

Don’t miss the broadcast premiere of HARPER’S ISLAND on Thursday, April 9 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).
