Skipping Beats

While searching for something in my junk drawer, I stumbled upon one of the pages from my old LOTR page-a-day calendars. For whatever reason, I always save the days with Boromir. Just one quick glance at the page made my heart skip a beat and I honestly became breathless at the sight.

It’s funny that when I first started into the fandom, I was a Faramir girl, but as soon as I started vidding, it was all about Boromir (and of course, Sean Bean). It’s just love. Seriously.

Mishmash

lotr It’s exam time again! This means a lot of downtime when I can’t really get any work done. This year I’ve decided that I will re-read The Lord of the Rings. It’s been a few years since I read it, and though I am only up to Gandalf’s return to the The Shire and the revelation that Bilbo’s old ring is in fact the One Ring, I’m pleased with my progress. I’m deliberately reading more slowly and in depth this time, so maybe I’ll get even more out of it. I’ve even decided to actually read the poems. Yeah.

My “allergies” have grown into full on ear problems, and I’m not sure my treatment is strong enough. Bah. I also fear that the endgame cough is going to be killer this time. You know how you can just tell?

Good Day To Be A Geek

lotr On television (or similar) right now are: The Lord of the Rings (Trilogy), The Star Wars Saga (OT), Doctor Who/Torchwood, Robin Hood, Primeval, new ep of Pushing Daisies, and for me, the second viewing of S2 Dexter (because I still can’t stop). I’ve got RotK on the plasma and Dexter on the lappy. Next up: Hood and Primeval.

That is one heck of a selection, people!

Five Years Nothing

While enjoying the LOTR marathon (again), it struck me that The Return of the King was released five years ago. FIVE YEARS. I can’t get over the thrill of excitement every single time I see any of the trilogy. Five years ago my dad and I stood in freezing cold temperatures to get tickets for Ben and me to see the midnight showing and OMG it truly was frigid; yet worth it.

In the last five years: I saw the movie at midnight, again the next afternoon, and again a few days later. I downloaded it, ripped the audio from the movie, burned it to disc, listened to it non-stop in the car, bought the soundtrack, began collecting action figures, fell in love with Sean Bean and David Wenham, named my cats Hobbit and Istar, made nearly 100 fanvids, journeyed into slash, met wonderful fellow fans, read the book repeatedly, read The Hobbit, The Similrillion, and a few other Tolkien works, rewatched the movies (repeatedly, as well), got the “9” tattoo, scoured online sites and calendar stores for the newest (or leftover) items, and so much more.

It all feels new. Maybe it always will. Can’t wait for the next five years of fandom!
