Summer of Death

Harper’s Island wrapped up its murderous spree last night. By its very nature, there were to be many, many, many deaths. Todd kind of got me thinking about the show a lot, and after looping episodes 1-11 all week, I pretty much figured it would end like it did. Well, not exactly how it did, but close enough. Nonetheless, I think I actually shouted, “You bastard!!” at the screen. 😆

Summer has not been kind to my other fandoms. Robin Hood saw three major character deaths, several minor character deaths, and most likely as a result, was canceled. Torchwood had one major death and five equally emotionally hurtful deaths. True Blood, as of this writing, as not had any significant deaths, but it’s early in the season and I fully expect we’ll see at least one (especially since the Lafayette deal was supposed to have already expired).

R.I.P.

Warehouse 13

So there’s a new show starting next week. At first glance, Warehouse 13 looks like a sleeker Eureka. Since I love Eureka, I hope there is enough of a difference that I don’t find myself comparing the two shows often. I’m definitely going to check it out, and I’ve already set the DVR to record all episodes. We just found out that Robin Hood is, indeed, canceled. With Harper’s Island wrapping up soon and no new Who or Merlin to keep me happy, I hope this is a show I can really get into (not that Eureka isn’t enough to keep me happy…and I won’t even mention BB).

Clearly Shocking

Robin Hood Logo I just finished S3 of Robin Hood, and though there are rumors that it will continue, I’m not so sure. The spirit of Robin Hood, as seen in the chant, “We are Robin Hood!” will perhaps always live on, but with so many changes, it will scarcely feel like the same show. I don’t want to give away too much of what happens, but WOW.

I am able to watch such excellent shows in pure luxury thanks to my new DVD player. I contemplated buying a Blu-Ray player, but really, now. Do I need a Blu-Ray when the last DVD I bought was, um, uh, RotK maybe? Hell no. So I went for the Philips 5590. I had read that it has a USB input that can read flash drives–no more burning discs. Awesome! I, however, wanted to be able to take it even further, so I kept reading. Sure enough, I was able to format the external HD my dad gave me so that it reads like a flash drive. I am now able to plug my pocket-sized 250GB external HD into my Divx loving DVD player and watch entire seasons of all my favorite shows with no waiting. I can also watch all our fanvids on the plasma. Niiiice. They hold up well in the conversion. I may never leave the house again.

Nice One, Hood.

Robin Hood Logo Hours after my last post, I may have had all-time low expectations for Robin Hood. This week’s episode, however, made me eyes perk up a bit. Oh, sure, the latest “twist” of a long-lost brother is somewhat cliche, but what a brother he is. I approve. A lot.

All I ask is that in the future SPN-level fanfics (and there *will* be fics), Guy is just a lookout or something. Ha!
