Season’s End (Hate)

lost-logo_0 Actually, one word can sum up my hatred. LOST. Dead-Not-Dead people? Immortals (who may be biblical) mixed into Egyptian mythology? Are you kidding me?!? If the show had been marketed as sci-fi from the beginning, I would slightly forgive it. As it is, this show has completely lost the appeal of Season 1. The mysteries of the unknown are now the mysteries of crap. I once said that the show was awful due to the turn of Ben/Widmore, but looking back, that beats the hell out of the stupidity of time travel, vanishing islands, and overall ridiculousness. True, I still watch, but only because of my devotion to S1 and the hope that the show will end on some kind of plausible level. Ugh.

I stopped watching Primeval this series. The show, while never actually fantastic, grew into a derivative monster of the week show, with even less relativity than in the past. The cast changes didn’t bother me so much as the change in tone of the show, and for that, I’m out.

Robin Hood is teetering on being on this list, though the series isn’t finished yet. I know they have to set up for the casting changes at the end of the year, but they (thus far) have blown a great opportunity with Isabella in favor of the no-talent blond. Not loving it. The loss of Will and Djaq is hard to overcome, and Guy is just even more revolting than he was in the last two years. Ugh.
[Edit: 6/13/09 2:45pm OMFG. I just read a spoiler about one of the Outlaws and now I think I am demoting the show onto this list in no uncertain terms. F$%# !!]

With great pain, I must now add Doctor Who to this list, if for no other reason, than it has no real season this year. Planet of the Dead was dead awful. The more I think about it, the more I hate it. BORING. There’s no other word for it. BORING. What would have made for a boring regular episode became an excruciatingly BORING “special”. Ugh Ugh Ugh.

Even Filler is Good

seeker Filler ep this week, but I still love this show. When it first started, I watched and enjoyed it, but thought it more of a passing interest like True Blood had been. I was so wrong. I’m now in the process of getting all the back episodes to go with the ones on my DVR. With any luck, I’ll get the first half of S1 burned before bed.

Primeval was kind of good. That’s about all I can say, really. I saw whut they did thar, and I like it, but it isn’t enough to produce hardcore fandom love. I definitely have to give the Saturday night smackdown title to Robin Hood, though I figured that would be the case going in. Heh.

Visits and Viewing

Robin Hood Logo That was good. Though I had a moment of “I miss Will,” I was really pleased with the season premiere of Robin Hood. Actually, I’m still smiling and so relieved that it has taken on a new vibe, but held to the core purpose. I can’t wait for more! As usual, I’m still holding Legend of the Seeker until later today, so perhaps after viewing Seeker and Primeval, I’ll have even more to babble about.

Ben’s visit was the best in years. We had El Mariachi, shopping, Starbucks chai lattes, and fun with component cables. Truthfully, I fixed the problem with the DVD player this morning, but I could not have done it without Ben’s help from last night. He connected the cables expertly, but I neglected to check the settings on just one thing; the DVD player itself. After waking with this revelation, I reconnected everything just as he had done, changed the settings and BAM! Awesome picture. I just had to watch Robin Hood again at that point (you know, just to check out the cables 😉 ). Thanks, Ben!!

And So It Gets Better

Work is becoming nearly fun again. We’ve defined our priorities, and though they are not my own personal priorities, I will go along with them. Maybe this Spring’s “Blah Bout” is going to be the shortest-lived yet! I’m feeling quite optimistic about most things, and though we all want things we can never have (NIN reference, y’all), that’s what keeps our devious little minds going.

Ben is coming down for a quick visit later and we get Legend of the Seeker, Robin Hood, and Primeval today. Not bad at all!
