Times Two

torchwood.jpgFor what it’s worth, I thought I’d share my thoughts on the last two Torchwood eps. Last week’s “Cyberwoman” was bad. Really bad. That’s all I have to say about that one. This week brought us “Small Worlds” and I rather enjoyed it. I think the reason I liked it was because it was quite a bit more Who-ian. There was a nice Jack element that’s been lacking in previous episodes and he really allowed us to see more of what makes him compassionate and complex.

The show is still on very thin ice with me (and apparently most of the viewing public), but a few more eps like this one and I might just come around. Don’t forget: Heroes tonight!

Torched

torchwood.jpgThree episodes in and all I can say is, “It’s gonna be a loooong season, y’all.” This show is nowhere near as fun as Doctor Who, not even as fun as eps with Ostrichboy Ten. The allure of Captain Jack Harkness was his boyish naughtiness. In Torchwood, Jack is just dead. There’s no fire in him at all. He’s like a cross between Chris Noth on Law & Order and Tom Cruise–and you know I hate Tom Cruise. I’ll watch because I can, but this show is already dying a painful death to me. I can’t wait for you guys to check it out and tell me if I’m just being narrow-minded or if it’s really crap.

Rumors

This is not a rumor, but Torchwood starts tomorrow, and I’m sure we’re all waiting to see what old Capt. Jack is going to have on his hands. I’m really excited about it, but at the same time, without The Doctor (you know which one), I’m not sure it will have the same punch as the last part of Series 1 of Doctor Who. Also not a rumor, I just found out that John Barrowman is gay in real life. Wow. No wonder his scenes with Nine were so awesome!

The rumor I read is that SGA returns to Canada as early as Monday to finish out the rest of Season 3. If this is true, then all I can really say is, “YIPPEE!!” I so hope it’s true because this will mean that I’ll be able to watch Sunday’s Torchwoods on Monday and Monday’s SGAs on Tuesday, and then my tolerance of stupidity at work will go up because I’ll have something to look forward to each day.
