This Week In Fandom

top-chef-thumbBoo! Top Chef sent the darling Fabio home and left cry-baby Hosea there. Let’s see, out of the last few chefs: Jamie-fun and lots of personality (GONE), Leah-female Hosea, blech (GONE), Fabio-cute and personable (GONE…boo). Chefs remaining: Stefan-hate if you want, I love his snarky style, Carla-literally crazy and fun, Hosea-a panting puppy (love me, love my food, huhuhu).

Lost was, apparently on this week. Survivor is still in the early rounds, so we don’t really get to know anyone yet. I think my love for Ugly Betty is now tainted by the news that America is a diva and very demanding on set. I’m not as into it as I was. TAR was good, but I’m already over the “human triumph” angle. Lose it…now. The SG-1 reruns on Sci-Fi finished Season 8 this week–undoubtedly the best shows I watched all week.

I’m holding my latest episode of Legend of the Seeker until I finish housework, otherwise, I’d probably be loving it in this very post.

In other news, I bought a Red Zune 80GB from a student this week. I’ve named it HobStar Red, and I’m debating giving HobStar to my brother, who has expressed a shocking interest in it. HobStar Red already contains everything that was on HobStar as well as all of S4 of Doctor Who. Gotta love that!

Seeker: Up; Betty: Down?

Legend of the Seeker has been renewed for a second season! Although the typical fanboys seem to hate it (see: AICN talkbacks), I’m thrilled. I’m also thrilled that is vidding it as we speak. I enjoy this show, but not in a “Must See Now!” way, but once I get ready to watch each week, I’m never disappointed. Really, in this day and age, there are very few shows that can’t be considered “rip offs” of other shows, so why focus on that? I catch it via DVR through the WGN Network, but it’s also available on Hulu.

In much worse news, Ugly Betty as been backburnered. ABC wants to start a Thursday Night comedy block and Betty has been relegated to post-sweep status. Uh oh. This is potentially very bad news for us fans. However, with the status of PD and UB, I may just be able to let ABC go from my viewing in its entirety. Pfft.

Tell Me Why

Please explain to me why my DVR was set to record Ugly Betty just as it always does, the guide showed Ugly Betty (with a full description of the episode), and what ABC showed was Scrubs (which I hated the first time around when it was on NBC). Boo. Hiss.

I am so disappointed. I am also so disappointed in Demons. I really wanted to like it. I thought when I saw Ella from Hex that maybe something cool would happen this week. WRONG. I’m not going to be burning this show unless I get a request now-ish. I’d rather have the space on my hard drive. Boo. Again.

Cage’s birthday party was earlier today, and for there to have been over 20 people there, it felt smallish and nice. He’s 9 years old now, and his sister, Scotti, is 9 months old. Pretty cool. He’s so awesome, and even though he was feeling under the weather, he played his part well. Happy Birthday, Cage! :cake:

I Don’t Get You

The news this week for my favorite shows was dismal.

Yes, Fringe got a full season pickup and the ratings weren’t horrible, but I just don’t understand why more people aren’t gaga over this show. I want to yell at them, “But you are the ones still fanboying Lost, for Pete’s sake!” The argument that “It’s not believable” doesn’t hold up to the ridiculousness that we see on that show. Geez.

Pushing Daisies got slammed by reviewers, and again, I don’t get it. I loved the episode. I did feel that it needed even more Emerson, but I also thought it felt just as whimsical as Season 1 and therefore, was awesome.

Ugly Betty received virtually no press, so there’s another of my shows seemingly past its prime. Woe.

Somewhat related, Sanctuary was neither wow nor terrible; just meh.
