This Week In Fandom

top-chef-thumbBoo! Top Chef sent the darling Fabio home and left cry-baby Hosea there. Let’s see, out of the last few chefs: Jamie-fun and lots of personality (GONE), Leah-female Hosea, blech (GONE), Fabio-cute and personable (GONE…boo). Chefs remaining: Stefan-hate if you want, I love his snarky style, Carla-literally crazy and fun, Hosea-a panting puppy (love me, love my food, huhuhu).

Lost was, apparently on this week. Survivor is still in the early rounds, so we don’t really get to know anyone yet. I think my love for Ugly Betty is now tainted by the news that America is a diva and very demanding on set. I’m not as into it as I was. TAR was good, but I’m already over the “human triumph” angle. Lose it…now. The SG-1 reruns on Sci-Fi finished Season 8 this week–undoubtedly the best shows I watched all week.

I’m holding my latest episode of Legend of the Seeker until I finish housework, otherwise, I’d probably be loving it in this very post.

In other news, I bought a Red Zune 80GB from a student this week. I’ve named it HobStar Red, and I’m debating giving HobStar to my brother, who has expressed a shocking interest in it. HobStar Red already contains everything that was on HobStar as well as all of S4 of Doctor Who. Gotta love that!

Happy Y2K9

This New Year’s Eve, I may actually stay up; not to watch the ball drop, not to see in the new year, and sadly, definitely not to have a midnight kiss.

I may stay up to see if HobStar comes out of its coma. If you saw the news today, you probably saw something about all first gen Zunes (in teh wurld) freezing simultaneously. Yes, HobStar was affected. It is thought that the internal workings of the device were not set to handle the extra day we received this year due to it being a leap year. The hope is that once the new day hits, they’ll all come out of their freeze and work again. We don’t know if they will make it, or if they’ll face memory loss, or anything, but I’m holding out hope. The official word is that we won’t know until noon GMT, but it won’t hurt to try sooner. Wish us luck!

Oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR! :bubbly:

Stop Me, Now!

I wish someone would block eBay from my computer (in a way). I’ve only used it three times, but each of those times I went nuts. In the span of three minutes tonight, I bid on the l.e.i. shoes that I had and ruined (new, black instead of my beloved brown ones), a Zune 120 (which I’m sure I’ll be outbid on, thank heaven), and flat out bought a 2005 LOTR Page-a-day calendar. I loved the 2005 version; all full of gloss and greatness (unlike the 2006 which was flat and dull).

Yes, I need help. I had to buy an outdated calendar because they don’t make them anymore. Except for the day of the week, I can use it with no problem. I use the old pages as hall passes for the students, so you can see that having the calendar was an absolute MUST. Mom bought me a Harry Potter version last year, and I just don’t get the same thrill each day when I see the new picture. The 2005 version is trilogy inclusive, which means lots of Boromir. Oh, god, just think if they made a Boromir Page-a-day calendar! I’d buy 100 of them to have on reserve. Oh! This is amazing–the company I bought the calendar from was Intergalactic Trading Company; the same place I bought all my SG-1 patches for Dragon*Con…and I didn’t even realize it until after I had bought it. FATE, dammit!
