Here’s a little info about my last post.
For quite some time, this guy has been showing up at the WP Forums and helping out from time to time. More often than not, his words appeared to be sarcastic and somewhat anti-WP. On his personal site, he began to BLAST WP on a regular basis. His main bone of contention was his jealousy that someone else’s design had been chosen as the “Default” WP template, known as Kubrick. Get over it already. This weekend, someone hacked (supposedly) his site after he switched hosts. Hence, Karma.
He has gone completely batty at this point. In a simple thread by the developer asking people to list their grievances against the Kubrick template, this guy went all the way to batshit insane. It seems one of the other mods may have deleted one of his many comments. Hence, Karma…again.
When the mod restored everything (even adding a button to the mod screen so he would have to approve deletions), dude STILL wasn’t happy. Here’s a bit of the response by the developer, Matt;
I suppose it’s plausible that Ryan is part of some giant conspiracy revolving around you, Kubrick, and world domination, but I imagine he (as I) has better things to do.
Bwa!
In a fit becoming Fandom Wank, he took his toys and left. Hopefully, never to return.
Read the whole post here. Though it prolly won’t be as amusing if you haven’t followed the drama all this time..
I don’t get any of that but I’ll take your word on it 😛
You speakee another language…oh wait, I recognize it now…it was on the tombs in Stargate and the glyohs found in Kaza Duum…it’s fan geeky girl you speak! AND I LOVE MY FAVE FANGIRL!
Yeah, I guess it doesn’t make much sense. I think the joy was in seeing that I wasn’t the only one fed up with this guy and when the creator of the projects snarked him into place, well that was just cool! 😎
I have to say I’ll defend Root at this point. Yes, he may have seemed a little antagonistic, but this wasn’t about jealousy. Root has very regiously protected the need to use web standards and semantic code and css in design to make life easier. Kubrick is a tough cookie to crack for someone new to css, and even bewlidering to those who use standards who then look at something that breaks the logic of keeping code and styling seperated.
He’s had a bad month, a very bad month. This is the second time his site has been trashed, and in this something crazzy was happening with WP where everytime a user visited, the install screen popped up inexplicably. The punk who did it was STILL browsing the site and checking files to see if he could still do it.
His posts have been moderated to some extent, and I guess he isn’t feeling the love anymore. Rin based on Manji and the Gemini are template are part of Root’s work, along with Khaled and Josh on the former. People love these themes because of their ease of use, Root knows what he’s talking about. Hopefully he’ll be back because I don’t say it lightly that his work and his contribution the communitu is a big loss for the WP. He’s not the be all and end all, but he made things better.
Sorry about the rant:) BTW, that strange problem in IE I managed to get fixed, you can read the entry on WP and it MIGHT fix your IE flicer problem too.
Good luck
sekhu, I’m guessing you missed a lot of the previous blow-ups…and there were many. I understand about bad weeks or months, I really do, but to continually place “blame” in the wrong direction, be it Matt, Ryan, or any other WP elite (just because they *are* elite) gets really old and tired, regardless of the good done elsewhere. If someone is that unhappy, they should move on.
Jenn,
I lost your number (again). Can you e-mail it to me? Riley was saying your favorite word again, and we were going to call you.
i have followed the previous dramas to some extent, and I know this has been brewing for a fair while, at the same time even though the way he expressed himself was totally with tact, he’s made some important points. Oh well, hopefully he’ll be available for the meet with the other Londoners, it’d be interesting how much of his online persona is actually him:)
No doubt about that. I’m sure he’d be a great guy to knock a few back with 😉
btw were you able to resolve your flicker IE issue?
Nope. Since I have a strict NO-VALIDATION policy for my site, I guess I’ll just hope everyone uses FF since it only occurs with IE :wink2:
no validation policy? Care to elaborate?
hehehe It’s just that as was mentioned today, with 26 plugins being used, I honestly don’t think I can ever get this site to validate. In all truth, only a few of my closest pals come here regularly, so I haven’t bothered with making it compliant, standard, valid, etc. :clown:
yay for nonstandard, uncompliant invalidation :wink::!:
Well, Ben, I *do* have those down to a science! Thanks for the support
you and me both:nod: any time, babydoll:love:
I can agree to a point with Root (he’s obviously compensating for something with this nickname), because when I first looked at the coding for WP I was overwhelmed. However, I found it as a challenge and welcomed it. I think he’s a lonely person who seems to think he’s right all the time and feels the need to hide behind a pc to prove himself manly. At any rate-You can get your site to validate with plugins. I have a ton going on my site and it validates. It’s just a matter of searching the bugs and fixing them. :smoke:
