Returns

We now return to our regularly scheduled posting.

We’re still three months away from the newest Stargate endeavor, but I’m becoming increasingly interested in SGU. There’s not a singular entity that has my interest (i.e. John Sheppard’s hotness, Jack O’Neill’s snark, Samantha Carter’s hair), rather an overall curiousness as to how the new concept will play out.

Stranded in space, an idea many say is reminiscent of Voyager, is fine with me. A younger, hipper cast is also not a problem for me, especially since the teasers we’ve seen don’t support the theory that the “old” people are just background. The only worry I have is in the casting of the lead actor, Robert Carlyle. I’m not familiar with his work, but he has a sort of bird-like head, a la David Tennant, and I tend to get distracted by that particular trait. Needless to say, I’m petty. I need to have someone to spazz out over, and I hope there will be someone emerge as the “looks” of the show who is not just secondary (like Ronon Dex…more of Ronon and Shep and SGA may have survived).

Nonetheless, I expect I will be posting quite a bit about SGU when it premieres in October.
