Weekly Update

Man, I just don’t have much to write about, do I? Today I installed a new thermostat for the heat pump (all by myself, even). I also finally installed the much cooler, Vegas-y light in the Vegas Bathroom. It looks GREAT. I have no doubt it will come crashing down eventually since I didn’t use the right screws, but until that happens, it’s mahvelous. Heh.

Work is going well…almost too well. It *has* to be the calm before the storm, but I’m not complaining. Nope.

Hobbit is doing great. She didn’t like her birthday present, so I sent it to her cousins. She likes her automatic feeder, though, and that’s fabulous. Now I get to sleep in on weekends. I haven’t felt this rested since I moved here.

Keira Knightly, that necklace does NOT go with the dress. Also, your hair looks bad.

Jessica Alba, cover the bony parts and stop wearing your hair like a Palm Beach retiree. Also, if you’re not comfortable in the dress, pick another one. You shouldn’t spend ALL your time on the red carpet stomping all over your dress.

Michelle Williams, both of the aformentioned women are goddesses compared to you. If you even have a stylist, fire them. Now. Your dress is the color of Tweety Bird, the hair looks dirty and straggly, and the lipstick, oh god no.

Felicity Huffman is perfection tonight. I’m entirely over George “Overrated” Clooney. Blech. Jon Stewart? Keep to entertainment jokes and we’ll be ok. Delve into politics and I’m out.

In a rare move, I’ve made the default theme here match my layout on LJ. OK, so this one is strictly Ronon, but do I hear any complaints? Didn’t think so.

Hobbit’s birthday is here and I had planned a party for her, but she was acting up today, so I’ve moved the celebration to this weekend. I’ll show her! *snicker*

Babies and Trends and Stuff

Saturday was awesome. Todd and Cole’s baby shower was much fun and I’m pretty sure the baby is going to be the most stylin’ tot in the world. It was so good to see them again and I hope it won’t be such a long time before the next visit. Sunday was NOT awesome. I spent the day at a birthday party…for a ONE year old. Jeez, what exactly is the point of such a thing?!! I was roped into going with my mom to my cousin’s baby’s party. Yeah. Lame.

Moving on, I’ve started to notice some definite vidding trends in certain fandoms. Stargate SG-1 seems to be ruled by 70’s music. SGA is all about trying to “out-cool” the others. LOST is all about A/U. All of these trends have worn out their welcome as far as I’m concerned. Meh. This is not to say that some of the best vids I’ve seen haven’t sprung from these trends (ok, maybe not the SG-1 thing…), but when the whole fandom gets on that (or any) bandwagon, it just becomes a breeding ground of mediocrity. So I say, yes, bring back the simple stuff. Or not. Whatever floats your boat 🙂
