NBC Returns

For ages now, people living in my area have been unable to get NBC via satellite TV because our lawmakers have nothing better to do than legislate against it. Srsly. Anyway, thanks to my quick thinking, I devised a plan to use the new digital conversion box connected to a small, tech-y antenna my dad gave me years ago, and VOILA! I was finally able to watch Heroes first run on a real TV, lying on the couch, and not sitting hostage-style in my kitchen watching on an old, turndial TV that made everyone appear green or yellow, depending on the wind.

Victory is MINE!

Crusoe Review

Crusoe wrapped up its 13 Episode run last night. For a show I watched only to get glimpses of Sean Bean (which sadly totaled less than 5 minutes), I have to give it an overall favorable review. Oddly enough, minus the acting of Sam Neill (touted as the biggest named star onboard), the performances were satisfying. Crusoe and Friday faced pretty much the same adventures week after week, but they were so likable that I still enjoyed watching. The location shoots really paid off, as this has to be one of my highest rated production sets ever. Everything from the island shots to the treehouse setting was spectacular.

The finale left the door open for more adventures, but I haven’t heard that there was any intention of continuing the story past the 13 episodes. I wouldn’t mind seeing one more arc, but I also wouldn’t mind appreciating this show for what is was: an adventure show, suitable for all ages, with a great cast, and a few Bean moments.

Seeker: Up; Betty: Down?

Legend of the Seeker has been renewed for a second season! Although the typical fanboys seem to hate it (see: AICN talkbacks), I’m thrilled. I’m also thrilled that is vidding it as we speak. I enjoy this show, but not in a “Must See Now!” way, but once I get ready to watch each week, I’m never disappointed. Really, in this day and age, there are very few shows that can’t be considered “rip offs” of other shows, so why focus on that? I catch it via DVR through the WGN Network, but it’s also available on Hulu.

In much worse news, Ugly Betty as been backburnered. ABC wants to start a Thursday Night comedy block and Betty has been relegated to post-sweep status. Uh oh. This is potentially very bad news for us fans. However, with the status of PD and UB, I may just be able to let ABC go from my viewing in its entirety. Pfft.
