I woke up to the news that SGA has been cancelled. Not cancelled, just, you know, not on anymore. This whole “we’ll make movies” garbage is not good enough. As much as I  SG-1, those movies are rather bad. I can’t imagine the SGA movies will be any better.

I’m not surprised that the show was cancelled for a few different reasons. I’ve stated most of my gripes before, and I know a large part of the fandom shares them. When the heart of the show was removed, Weir and Beckett, the writers put themselves into deep holes and never really dug their way out. I guess in the end, the only things I’ll miss about Atlantis are the sets, Ronon (the eye-candy, not the role), Rodney, and the chance to get to know those kickass villains we only got a glimpse of. Oddly enough, I won’t miss Sheppard, who was the reason I watched in the first place. There has been almost NO character development in five years now, and without Elizabeth to humaniize him, he became some basic military guy.

Hopefully, we’ll have Eureka and Fringe around long enough to make me happy. Colin Ferguson says in his interview vid on Sci-Fi that they’re actually going to get an additional Winter run to go along with the Summer run, so maybe that’s good news. I still cannot say enough about how much I love Fringe. I just keep waiting for it to actually premiere so I can see new episodes.

Unbelievable!

Did NOT see that coming. In Eureka, is anything ever as it seems? I may be wrong, and I’m not spoiled in any way whatsoever, but I think this may be for real. I only think that because the show is small enough to get away with something like this. Then again, it’s also small enough that they can get away with reversing it somehow. I just don’t know what the future holds, but as long as there is a future, I’m there. :wink2:

On a much less cool note, I am the world’s biggest sucker. No, I mean it. Once again, I’ve let my sense of responsibility cost me greatly. 😡

Weir Missing You

Corny post title aside, I have to say that last night’s episode, “Ghost In The Machine”, wasn’t as bad as I’d feared. Although Torri wouldn’t come back for the episode (and who could blame her?) it almost felt like Dr. Weir was there. The actress playing Weir/Fran did a very good job of capturing some of Weir’s speech patterns and if you squinted your eyes tightly while watching, you could almost be fooled into thinking it was the real Dr. Weir. Overall, I think it accomplished its mission of finally dealing with the character of Dr. Weir, though I would rather have seen things end entirely differently.

I miss the days of shipping Shweir, or Sparky, or whatever they called it. I miss being able to watch for a certain glance or the way John and Elizabeth said each other’s names. As a matter of fact, I would say that this is the least shippy show there is. McShep is all but dead, and Teyla/Ronon (Spanky, was it?) is clearly not in the writers’ vision. The only ships they hint at are those many involving…ugh. I can’t even go there. I guess I have to ask myself, do I like the show more than my own renderings of importance? We’ll see.

More, please!

Last night’s episode of SGA was awesome. I’ve been waiting for a good ep for about two years now, and this was it. This was nearly like a Season 1 episode, in that the team was featured rather than the blossoming romances of Keller (none of which work, btw). The only thing this episode (or any of them, for that matter) was missing was Dr. Weir and maybe a little Woolsey. It even had Lorne looking right at home in a command capacity.

The villains were the first exciting badguys in a long time, and I certainly hope we see a LOT more of them. They’re like WraithBorg or something, and they.are.cool. I hope the writers return to this story and let the whole Michael story go. I like Connor Trinneer well enough, but that story is as boring as, well, Keller.

In other news, my server keeps blinking, so if you’ve had problems loading the site–sorry!
