What Should Have Been

As the week of Dragon*Con approaches, even more guests have been added. FORD! Rainbow is going to be there and I would so love to tell him that his fans still miss him. Here’s the list of who I would have spent my money on, had I gone to D*C 2008:

Sean Astin (First…not only alphabetically)
Beau Bridges (Gen. Landry would be a nice addition)
Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett…but not as I pictured)
Brad Dourif (fellow WVian)
Rainbow Sun Francks (see above)
Virginia Hey (Meditation Workshop, how I miss thee)
Torri Higginson (Didn’t get to spend $ on her last time)
Gareth David Lloyd (No question about it.)
David Nykl (I’d want him to pretend to be Czech)
Hayden Panettiere (if only in hopes she brought Milo)
Robert Picardo (When fandoms collide!)
Tim Russ (Tuvok!)
Cliff Simon (I’d spend double on him)

Book Time: Finished

I just finished Book 4 in as many days. Is anyone here reading the Twilight series? No? Didn’t think so.

SPOILERS:

I hate happy endings. I like a little bittersweet at times, but sugary? Nope. Let’s just see here:

Happy Ending Count:

Bella-TICK
Edward-TICK
Jacob-TICK
Renesmee (WTF?)-TICK
Alice-TICK
Carlisle, Esme, Emmett, Rosalie, Jasper, Charlie, Renee, Phil, Sam, Leah, Seth, Quil, Embry, Billy, Sue, Irish Coven, Amazon Coven(s), shoot, EVERYONE: TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK-INFINITY.

I guess I shouldn’t expect more from a “Young Adult Reader” series, but sheesh, no real horrible deaths in a book about vampires and werewolves shape-shifters? Come on! Where’s the fun? Don’t get me wrong, I would have been saddened at the loss of a major character, but for everyone to have a “happily ever after” just isn’t realistic–you know, like vampires and werewolves shape-shifters are. 😆

I’m not going to be a fangirl here, and I’m sort of relieved. I felt like I owed it to all my excited LJ friends to see what all the fuss is about, but I didn’t really want to get too involved with a new fandom just yet. I’m mighty glad I read this series, if for nothing more than the fact that I can now enjoy the HUGE amount of wank the final book has caused. Whoo!

Book Time

I admit it. After being commanded repeatedly to read Twilight, I’m finally doing so. I want to hate this book. In many ways, I do hate this book. It’s written in first person. I hate first person. I’d rather listen to Suede prattle on in third person for days than read a book in first person. Secondly, I recognize the writing style; it’s the same one I used in seventh grade. Thirdly, there are errors aplenty. I don’t think Ms. Meyer has a firm grasp of the English language.

All said, why am I so into this book? Why do I want Edward to just let go and get dirty? Why am I going to read non-stop until I finish Book 4? WHY?
