As Human As Possible

I don’t know how I let this show slip past me the first time around. Being Human is now airing on BBCAmerica and I’m just getting around to watching it. I’m not sure what vibe they’re going for; there’s wit, horror, drama, and intrigue. There’s just not enough of any of them, really. It’s not so much that I didn’t like the first episode (and I really like Mitchell), I just don’t know what I’m meant to think about it.

I’m going to stick with it, though I already wish I was watching the original series. Russell Tovey (who appears to really like his bum) has already had to have some butt-blurring, and there’s no telling what else has been cut or changed. Hopefully it’s not enough to make a difference in the overall feel of the show (Sci-Fi SyFy, I’m glaring at you and the Doctor Who cuts you made :evileye: ), but since there doesn’t appear to be too much to feel, I guess it won’t matter.

Obligatory Review

Yes, I will preface this by saying that I HATE the HP movies. In fact, I hate PoA more than any other movie ever made. I have mentioned it on this site and others and don’t really want to compound what I’m about to say with the acrid remarks I reserve solely for that film.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, while not my favorite novel, is still one of the best of the series. The MAJOR developments and MAJOR history we need to know are all right there in the book. Certainly the movie will give us the information we need to know, right? NO. I watched the first twenty minutes or so of the film, became utterly disgusted and quit it for good.

My thoughts were something like this: That didn’t happen. That isn’t what happened, THAT makes NO sense, OMFG, WHAT?!? Oh, I see Hermione still has constipation face (seriously, Emma Watson is gorgeous, but her portrayal of Hermione makes me want to avoid cheese at all costs…they should spike her pumpkin juice with castor oil), OMG, no, just no no no no no no. :evileye: Thanks to Cleolinda Jones’ , I now know that somehow the Weasley house gets burned by deatheaters…the fuck?!??!? There’s no way I’m ever going to finish the movie, and I’d say it’s a good bet that I won’t be seeing the final movie(s) either. Pfft.

Curiouser

I’ve been grumbling. I’ve been hating. And now, I’ve been convinced. I actually like the trailer for Alice in Wonderland and am leaning toward wanting to see the movie now. All along (and it still holds true), I’ve been saying how over I am of Burton/Depp’s monotonous endeavors. Though this may well turn out to be “more of the same” once all is said and done, there was enough of a spark in the trailer to hook me. Wow!

Wellll, I guess my enthusiasm for the movie just took a giant dip since the studio ordered everyone to delete the trailer. Way to lose fans, guys! Pfft.

Change is Coming

It has taken me all of an hour after seeing the pics of the new Doctor and Companion to decide that I LIKE IT! I’m so ready for a change and I’m strangely nostalgic for the 80s looking at the pics. I think I’ll like Eleven no matter what he actually does just because, you know, he’s not Ten. Whoo!
