Hi-Tech Review

Google Chrome Browser

There are a few things I like about it:

It is fast
Switching tabs is smooth as buttah
Having the tabs on top was actually comfortable.

There are more things I don’t like about it:

It’s not a one-stop shop like FF (no extensions, ads everywhere, etc.)
It’s hideous
No right-click reload!!! For obsessive freaks like me, that’s a deal breaker.
Did I mention ads….everywhere?!? With Adblock Plus and Firefox, I didn’t realize there were so many sites displaying ads. Blech.
The “Most Visited” page is a curse. I want my site to be the first box listed, so now I have to reload my site repeatedly, thus driving up the cost of bandwidth usage (only not really, since I have a readership of, like, 2…maybe 3).

Bottom line: I though about using it as a quick browser, but why get out of sync with FF, which I love and will have to rely on when uploading, editing, designing, etc.? NOT SWITCHING.

R.I.P. Hewly

I am mourning the loss of my best friend, Hewly. Hewly had been more like a part of me than a computer. In honor of Hewly, I have purchased his bastard cousin, Gateship1.

Gateship1 is a low-level laptop that I can kick around and do all the things I need to do without worrying about the monetary loss should horrible things happen. Don’t get me wrong; I’m very glad to have him, and I’ll be good to him, but if he dies prematurely, I don’t think I’ll be as torn up about it as I am with Hewly.

Possible New Show Alert

Although I had heard about NBC’s adaptation of Crusoe a while ago, I kind of forgot about it. I already watch Heroes from NBC, and thanks to our Democratic politicians, I am not permitted to receive the NBC channel, so I’m hesitant about adding another fandom that I can’t watch first run.

What could possibly change my mind? Sean Bean. The new lead actor playing Crusoe looks amazingly like Bean, and Bean is aptly cast as his father. I don’t think his role is very large, however. Although the trailers for the show all tout his involvement, the Crusoe site doesn’t include him in the “Bio” section, so that makes me a bit leery.

I guess the bottom line is something we all already know: If Sean Bean is onboard at all, I’m watching. :wink2:
