Weir Missing You

Corny post title aside, I have to say that last night’s episode, “Ghost In The Machine”, wasn’t as bad as I’d feared. Although Torri wouldn’t come back for the episode (and who could blame her?) it almost felt like Dr. Weir was there. The actress playing Weir/Fran did a very good job of capturing some of Weir’s speech patterns and if you squinted your eyes tightly while watching, you could almost be fooled into thinking it was the real Dr. Weir. Overall, I think it accomplished its mission of finally dealing with the character of Dr. Weir, though I would rather have seen things end entirely differently.

I miss the days of shipping Shweir, or Sparky, or whatever they called it. I miss being able to watch for a certain glance or the way John and Elizabeth said each other’s names. As a matter of fact, I would say that this is the least shippy show there is. McShep is all but dead, and Teyla/Ronon (Spanky, was it?) is clearly not in the writers’ vision. The only ships they hint at are those many involving…ugh. I can’t even go there. I guess I have to ask myself, do I like the show more than my own renderings of importance? We’ll see.

Request

I know my friends list is small (and beloved), but I need a little help. I know I’ve been away from LJ for quite a bit, but I come asking for help anyway. Hee!

Every fandom community I join becomes overrun with ICONZ! Look at my 450 ICONZ! Look at my 78 ICONZ (DO NOT ALTER!!!1!!). I joined many fandom communities because they claim to have graphics (i.e. wallpapers, posters, etc.) only to find that it’s more like: 162 ICONZ, 200 ICONZ in unrelated fandom, and 1 wallpaper. Arrgh.

My question: Can you recommend any nice, graphics-based fandom communities (with moderate amounts of iconage)? I’m not that particular as to which fandoms are represented, and the only fandoms that I wouldn’t be interested in are LOST and BSG.

Book Time: Finished

I just finished Book 4 in as many days. Is anyone here reading the Twilight series? No? Didn’t think so.

SPOILERS:

I hate happy endings. I like a little bittersweet at times, but sugary? Nope. Let’s just see here:

Happy Ending Count:

I guess I shouldn’t expect more from a “Young Adult Reader” series, but sheesh, no real horrible deaths in a book about vampires and werewolves shape-shifters? Come on! Where’s the fun? Don’t get me wrong, I would have been saddened at the loss of a major character, but for everyone to have a “happily ever after” just isn’t realistic–you know, like vampires and werewolves shape-shifters are. 😆

I’m not going to be a fangirl here, and I’m sort of relieved. I felt like I owed it to all my excited LJ friends to see what all the fuss is about, but I didn’t really want to get too involved with a new fandom just yet. I’m mighty glad I read this series, if for nothing more than the fact that I can now enjoy the HUGE amount of wank the final book has caused. Whoo!
