Summer of Death

Harper’s Island wrapped up its murderous spree last night. By its very nature, there were to be many, many, many deaths. Todd kind of got me thinking about the show a lot, and after looping episodes 1-11 all week, I pretty much figured it would end like it did. Well, not exactly how it did, but close enough. Nonetheless, I think I actually shouted, “You bastard!!” at the screen. 😆

Summer has not been kind to my other fandoms. Robin Hood saw three major character deaths, several minor character deaths, and most likely as a result, was canceled. Torchwood had one major death and five equally emotionally hurtful deaths. True Blood, as of this writing, as not had any significant deaths, but it’s early in the season and I fully expect we’ll see at least one (especially since the Lafayette deal was supposed to have already expired).

R.I.P.

Warehouse 13

So there’s a new show starting next week. At first glance, Warehouse 13 looks like a sleeker Eureka. Since I love Eureka, I hope there is enough of a difference that I don’t find myself comparing the two shows often. I’m definitely going to check it out, and I’ve already set the DVR to record all episodes. We just found out that Robin Hood is, indeed, canceled. With Harper’s Island wrapping up soon and no new Who or Merlin to keep me happy, I hope this is a show I can really get into (not that Eureka isn’t enough to keep me happy…and I won’t even mention BB).

One By One

I can’t stress enough how much I have enjoyed this show. For anyone who didn’t get into it from the beginning, you can watch all the episodes at CBS.com There has never been a show that I like, my father likes, and even my brother (who can’t be bothered with non-sports tv) likes. This has been a really fun ride and here at end, I STILL don’t know just what the outcome will be. Can’t wait to find out, but I will truly miss it when it’s over.

Season’s End (Love)

fringeIn the battle for television supremacy, I’m going to give the very slightest of edge to Fringe. The season ended on an intriguing note, and the show is holding up well in the DVD loop. I’m looking forward to next season more so than any other show, so that’s why I’m giving it the edge.

seekerComing in a very close second is Legend of the Seeker. Although I frequently hold episodes (sometimes for weeks) before watching, I am always pleased with this show. I squee every time there’s a R/K moment and laugh at Zedd’s zany idiosyncrasies. I get wrapped up in each episode’s adventure as if it’s a feature film, and the cinematography is stunning enough to make it feel like a feature at times.

I had a hard time leaving out Dexter, but I feel there is a lot more Dexter-love to come when the new season starts up. Harper’s Island has proven to be more fun than cerebral, but that’s acceptable. After all, it is the only show my brother and I love together.

With RL work kicking into noose-gear, I don’t know when I’ll have the hate post up, but I think you know which show will top that very long list….heh.
