Hobbit Hospital

Even though the title of this post sounds like a very bad serial fanfic, it describes my plans for Labor Day weekend.

By my observation, Hobbit has been having excessive thirst and frequent trips to the litter box, the primary combo symptoms of feline diabetes. Maybe I’m just being overcautious (and I hope I am), but she has an appointment tomorrow. I hope they just take a few labs, perform an office exam, and send us home. I have no reason to think they’ll want to keep her (since they’re closed Sunday and Monday), so we should be fine on that front.

I’ll update later, but Hobbit says that if you’d like to send donations for catnip, she does accept PayPal.

Mishmash

lotr It’s exam time again! This means a lot of downtime when I can’t really get any work done. This year I’ve decided that I will re-read The Lord of the Rings. It’s been a few years since I read it, and though I am only up to Gandalf’s return to the The Shire and the revelation that Bilbo’s old ring is in fact the One Ring, I’m pleased with my progress. I’m deliberately reading more slowly and in depth this time, so maybe I’ll get even more out of it. I’ve even decided to actually read the poems. Yeah.

My “allergies” have grown into full on ear problems, and I’m not sure my treatment is strong enough. Bah. I also fear that the endgame cough is going to be killer this time. You know how you can just tell?

Surprising Daisies

Pushing Daisies The latest episode of PD had a very unexpected, yet very welcomed, guest star. Though the part was smallish, the detective was a true highlight for the series. It is a real shame this show is canceled. There are so many other shows I can recommend in its place that should have been canceled long ago; pretty much everything else on ABC’s schedule for starts.

Exactly a year ago, I was sick. I remember because it’s Dad’s birthday and last year I had to take the PRAXIS II test (which I aced, btw) and I was too sick to hold my head up through the examination. Anyway, I’m sick again. I’m going to stock up on vitamin C and hole up in my house for the week prior to this weekend next year. I’m putting it on the calendar now. Hmmph.

Spring Feverish

heroeslogo Heroes didn’t disappoint. The hype was there, and I loved it. For a non-Sylar episode, I would say that it was actually pretty fantastic. While nearly everyone called the identity of Rebel, I was glad to see it play out the way it did. The only thing that would have been even cooler is if Rebel had actually had the accomplice we thought he would have. How’s that for non-specific non-spoiler? Oh, and Daphne was, as always, adorable. Next week is going to be all Sylar! SYLAR!

In this year’s installment of “Why I Hate Spring”, I refer you to the poison ivy on my hands. I left the house for less than five minutes to pick up some rubbish that had blown into my yard during the recent storms and came in immediately to wash with bleach, but it beat me. If the poison ivy stays contained to my hands, I’ll be happy; it’s the face affliction that I dread. I’m on double the Benedryl now, so hopefully it will provide some kind of benefit. I really don’t want to be forced to get the injections and prescriptions for decadron and steroids–again.
