Weir Missing You

Corny post title aside, I have to say that last night’s episode, “Ghost In The Machine”, wasn’t as bad as I’d feared. Although Torri wouldn’t come back for the episode (and who could blame her?) it almost felt like Dr. Weir was there. The actress playing Weir/Fran did a very good job of capturing some of Weir’s speech patterns and if you squinted your eyes tightly while watching, you could almost be fooled into thinking it was the real Dr. Weir. Overall, I think it accomplished its mission of finally dealing with the character of Dr. Weir, though I would rather have seen things end entirely differently.

I miss the days of shipping Shweir, or Sparky, or whatever they called it. I miss being able to watch for a certain glance or the way John and Elizabeth said each other’s names. As a matter of fact, I would say that this is the least shippy show there is. McShep is all but dead, and Teyla/Ronon (Spanky, was it?) is clearly not in the writers’ vision. The only ships they hint at are those many involving…ugh. I can’t even go there. I guess I have to ask myself, do I like the show more than my own renderings of importance? We’ll see.
