Change is Coming

It has taken me all of an hour after seeing the pics of the new Doctor and Companion to decide that I LIKE IT! I’m so ready for a change and I’m strangely nostalgic for the 80s looking at the pics. I think I’ll like Eleven no matter what he actually does just because, you know, he’s not Ten. Whoo!

Power of Java

Special interest groups claim that children smoke because they see it onscreen. I don’t know about that, but I know that as a coffee drinker, I have a hard time seeing people drink coffee without wanting a big cup for myself. I can’t even try to watch a Season 1 episode of Ugly Betty without wanting a coffee and a bagel (to which I now watch prepared-everything bagel/cream cheese and latte).

I’ve now found that it’s impossible for me to read Charlaine Harris without craving coffee by the gallon. Maybe it’s the “Southerness” of it all, but Sookie, and now Harper, are forever making and/or drinking coffee, which in turn, means that I am forever making and drinking it. I’m starting to think that even I, with my strong addiction and tolerance of caffeine, may just be affected by this increased uptake and that’s why I’m no longer able to go to sleep until 2-3am. Hmmmm.

Cleaning House

I don’t know what it is about people on Twitter. There seem to be two camps: those who you wish would tweet more often and those who just can’t shut the hell up. There are very few in-betweeners who are doing it right. In the last couple of weeks, I’ve had to unfollow (which is like de-friending) several previously enjoyable people for the offense of tweet barrage. I’ve had my finger on the trigger for a few others that are still under suspicion.

I figure that I have a small, but pretty active group that I follow, and the entire first column of tweets has come from a single tweeter, that’s too much.

Half Truth

I’d say I’m a casual fan of True Blood. I don’t feel the need to watch it each week, but I care enough to keep up. What I cannot keep up with is the crazy fandom. Apparently, the books (which I really do want to read) go off in even crazier directions than the show and Sookie ends up in quite a few romances (or possible romances). Since I’ve not read them yet, I’m still all about Bill and Sookie. I don’t get the overwhelming love for Eric, nor do I see any Eric/Lafayette AT ALL. I mean I’m as much a slash fan as anyone, but it’s just.not.there. Also? How can you not appreciate Bill with his Civil War era speech when he says things like this, “ARE YOU GONNA LEAVE OR AM I GONNA HAVE TO THROW YOU OUT…. THROUGH A WINDOW…. THAT IS CLOSED!”

I can name several “flaws” of the show, but they’re minor apart from the fact that many people miss big moments because the lighting is so off. I know things happen at night (especially when dealing with vampires), but the scenes could be just a little bit lighter, no?

I’m very interested to learn more about Barry now. This was meant to be the big “reveal” (or so they say), and without spoiling myself too much too soon, I can’t really snoop around to find out his significance. Drats!
