Somewhere between snide remarks of “Blah-ttlestar Dramatica” and my pride, I found an appreciation of Battlestar Galactica. It took a long time, even after I actually started watching, and I can’t even place when it was, but at some point, I began to actually like it.
As a fangirl (and a well-documented sheep), I expected to get swept up in Kara/Lee shippiness, to want to find wallpapers, fanvids, and icons. It never happened. As a matter of fact, I don’t even like Lee all that much, and Kara, well, let’s just say I prefer the first Kara (if you know what I mean). I do excitedly look forward to seeing Melissa’s work, though. I guess what I mean is that I don’t care enough to take the chance of sitting through vids I don’t like while trying to find a rare gem. I’ve done that enough with LOTS. Ha!
What I liked most about the series is pretty much found in the picture here. Helo, because it’s Helo, y’all. Who couldn’t love Helo and his weepy eyes, his devotion, his heart, and his body, of course. Heh. While I had my little crush on Helo, I have to say that the reason I kept watching, even when I wanted to give up was Tigh, my overall favorite character, and his bromance with Adama.
I had unavoidably read a few spoilers here and there over the years, but I was not prepared for the shocker my favorite character would face. There’s little point in going into detail in this post, as it is a few years late, but seeing how the friendship of Col. Tigh and Adm. Adama survived the war makes any downtime the series had seem worthwhile.

Though I wouldn’t place BSG in my favorite shows listing, I will say that I’m glad I watched it, and except for the last very cheesy scene, it was pretty fantastic.
YAY! I’m just glad you ended up NOT hating the whole series. haha!
As the fangirls say: “EVERYONE needs a HELO!” I <3 his character so damn much it ridiculous. :)) And yeah Tahmoh is just gorgeous – so pretty. I'm actually considering watching Dollhouse, just to get my "helo" fix.
Also, Tigh… @#$%^ words can't describe my anger at that reveal. Just… no. It felt like the writers betrayed the fans doing that. I mean, at least he stayed consistent even after, but still – I was angry. I was glad that it didn't cause a huge rift between Adama/Tigh after all was said and done as well.
Also I agree Kara2 was the messiest of messy writing, and they did it all for what? A little shock? *insert my fan rage here* hehe I saw somewhere that the actress apparently had a fit in Season 4 because of the inconsistent/crazy writing, she had no clue how she was supposed to be playing her role and I can't say I blame her.
I've seen a few people that were bugged with Lee. I'm sure the biggest problem with Lee is that they never put him into one consistent role. This is the big thing that always bugged me most. They bounced him, his character and his morality all over the place – but I saw so much potential there that I had to cling onto him. Plus, I just love the idea of Lee/Kara's completely messed up history. And uh… Jamie Bamber is hot. That too.
The finale actually bugged me because everyone went off alone which seemed like the absolute last thing I thought they would want…. There wasn't even a Tigh/Adama goodbye scene in the finale which just felt all kinds of wrong. Plus being the shippy fan I am, I was devastated at the *poof* Ah well, I could go in a tangent, but I wont. 😉
The very last scene though, was awful IMO. The WORST kind of cheese. *insert eye roll*
And after re-reading back through this it looks like I actually hated the show, and you well know I didn't…LOL I just have big issues with some of the plots/shockers. All in all though I think it was a very good show with some great actors.
Seriously, girl, it sounds like I liked it more than you did! LOL I totally understand where you’re coming from, though, on all points. I’m so glad you finally pushed me over the edge to watch it, I feel like I’m better for having seen it.
I didn’t choose to believe that they went separate ways forever. I just refused to believe it. And I still do. I picture all of the survivors having Hobbit-like celebrations all together as often as possible. Yes, that’s it. BFFs, dammit.
Oh! And while I’m still not decided on “Caprica” I have to say that Lee’s grandfather is even hotter than he is (which is saying something)! :thud:
