Am I Alone?

Entertainment Weekly‘s cover story this week is about The Simpsons movie. I could not care less about that movie. Sure, I liked The Simpsons, about 20 years ago! I haven’t been impressed with the characters since they were featurettes on The Tracy Ullman Show. I honestly don’t get the love people have for the show, but I don’t mind it either.

Somewhat conversely, I do mind the ill-placed love people have for American Idol, which was also featured in EW. I never hear anyone say they actually like the show, but for some reason, it gets great ratings and has been renewed for multiple seasons. I think my basic problem with the show is that it seems to draw (for the most part) degenerate types. There’s no way I can state my opinion without it sounding horribly classist, so I’ll just leave it at that, but man, I’d love for that show to go away (or at least stop taking up space in entertainment magazines).

OK, Eureka’s coming on…gotta run.

OotP Review

Total suckage until the last eight minutes.

There’s really no need for me to say anything, as I’m sure it has been, or will be, said thousands of times by others. I was completely unimpressed with the Dumbledore/Voldemort showdown, but as soon as it ended, wow! The last eight minutes are exactly how I think of Harry and what makes him so. It’s a little like my “How It Ends” vid, even. So filmmakers, remember, if you have only a few good moments, put them at the end so people forget the rest of the crap.

Another word for A-ha

colin.jpg Whoo hoo! New Eureka tonight! I’m not going to the midnight showing of OotP because, well, I have no one to go with. I would have loved seeing it with Ash, but I’m not as much of fan of the movies as much as I once was. PoA ruined everything, but I’ve ranted about that plenty of times on here, so I’ll just let it go… BAH!

So anyway, yes, Eureka it is. I’m watching Big Brother (mostly out of boredom) and Pirate Master (possibly the worst show I’ve stuck with…Die, Azmyth!) and Eureka tonight and finishing the schedules for the students tomorrow.

Who says I don’t have a plan? Oh, that’s right…it’s me. :clown:

Oh, and how cool is this real life Danny Deckchair?!?

No zar’roc here

Eragon (Inheritance, Book 1)Eldest (Inheritance, Book 2)It’s been a long time since I posted anything, for a number of reasons. First and foremost, my grandmother had serious surgery this week and I’ve been a bit more into family than friends. She’s doing great and I’m not going to worry about her needlessly.

Secondly, I’ve been reading a couple of books. With the movie version of Eragon coming out soon, I finally felt the rush to read it. I’d been thinking about reading it for quite some time, but it began to feel like a race against time. I finished it Thursday night, absolutely certain that I had already figured out a huge mystery hinted at in the first of the three books of The Inheritance. Yesterday, I stopped on the way to work and purchased Eldest, the second book. As usual, not only am I NOT clever, I’m worse: Thinking I’m clever has made me an even bigger fool than usual, as my theory was clearly not even close to the truth of the mystery. Looking back, I see that it was not my own sharp thinking that lead me to my conclusion, and everyone reading probably thought the same way as I did. Suckas!

The books themselves borrow heavily from Tolkien. I mean HEAVILY. The words, places, a bit of the mythology, it’s all Tolkien-lite. I’m not complaining, just stating. I’ll be waiting for the concluding book with much anticipation, as the story has hit home for me; Hobbit is my Saphira, proud and independent, and Istar is the Dragon Rider, if only for the way Hob has to drag his goofy butt around on her back.

See? It always comes back to Da Hob.
