The Science

Of all the shows airing this fall, none has me more excited than Fringe. When the pilot leaked, I must have watched it at least twenty times in anticipation of the series premiere. I can still tell you every little difference in the two versions. I also looped each episode once it aired in anticipation of the next week’s (or just “next” as the case too often was) episode. Over the summer, I found myself looping all of Season 1 quite a few times in anticipation of Season 2.

So as you can see, I really am a fan, but some of the casting rumors (some confirmed) have me a little concerned. I’m not sure what’s going on with Charlie, but especially after seeing the Season 1 gag reel, I really, REALLY hope he stays around in this dimension or another we get to see. I also pretty much want no females other than Olivia and Astrid. I know that sounds backward of me, but it’s true. I like to watch the boys’ game. So, there, I’ve said it. Keep Charlie, ditch the new chick. Now.

Season’s End (Love)

fringeIn the battle for television supremacy, I’m going to give the very slightest of edge to Fringe. The season ended on an intriguing note, and the show is holding up well in the DVD loop. I’m looking forward to next season more so than any other show, so that’s why I’m giving it the edge.

seekerComing in a very close second is Legend of the Seeker. Although I frequently hold episodes (sometimes for weeks) before watching, I am always pleased with this show. I squee every time there’s a R/K moment and laugh at Zedd’s zany idiosyncrasies. I get wrapped up in each episode’s adventure as if it’s a feature film, and the cinematography is stunning enough to make it feel like a feature at times.

I had a hard time leaving out Dexter, but I feel there is a lot more Dexter-love to come when the new season starts up. Harper’s Island has proven to be more fun than cerebral, but that’s acceptable. After all, it is the only show my brother and I love together.

With RL work kicking into noose-gear, I don’t know when I’ll have the hate post up, but I think you know which show will top that very long list….heh.

Casting Coup

fringe If casting directors need to know how to do it they should call the Fringe crew. Hot on the heels of the single best “child actor” episode I’ve ever seen comes news that William Bell has been cast. Leonard Nimoy. Holy wow!

“Inner Child” was one of my favorite episodes yet. Though there was less screen time for Peter, and Walter too for that matter, I thought the performance turned out by the baby Observer was absolute perfection. Without saying a word, he gave us more than a lot of Emmy winners past. I really love this show. That last scene, in the car? Shivers. The good kind.

I’m also excited about the debut of RW/RR Challenge: Duel II that starts tonight. The last one was boring and too outside the box, but this one has a LOT of my favorite competitors from previous challenges and promises to have quite a bit of action. I’m not sure how much I like the one hour format rather than a longer season of 1/2 hour shows, but I know this: I’m not watching Model until tomorrow so I can watch this one first run!

Must Watch

fringe In case I don’t post in the next couple of days (and it’s a safe bet I won’t), don’t forget that Fringe returns Tuesday night. It’s been a long time and I hope the gap hasn’t seen too many fans fall off. The show doesn’t have the crazies a crap show like LOST has to continue fanboying its every scene, and I’d hate to lose it so soon. MUST WATCH.

Hey! MUST WATCH!
