It’s happened.

I’ve lost my damned mind. I’ve reactivated my eHarmony settings, but not my subscription. There’s absolutely no need for me to pay them money when I’m almost certain that there will be no matches found within a 30 miles radius (which is the farthest I’d go). If they can find a semi-suitable match, I’ll consider reactivating my account. Worst case scenario: I get matched up to some loser I already know. Yeah, I know that using a dating site makes me a loser, too, but even I have standards, low as they may be. The truth is, I don’t even know if I want to meet anyone. I’m certainly not going to put any effort into getting to know someone, and maybe I won’t even respond to any matches, but it would be nice to have someone around occasionally. Or not.

Damn you, Google and your manipulative ways of making me search for exes and finding out that they’re in happy relationships. Damn you to hell.

Advice, please

csi.jpgI’ve been out of the CSI loop for a really long time. I need to know if I can jump back in without being lost. There were always a couple of running plotlines, but nothing a new viewer couldn’t either understand or disregard. I’ve read the Grissom spoilers, but I guess I need to know if there are any new characters I show know about, and if so, what’s their deal?

Anyone?

Winners and Losers

First off, even though they haven’t made my shiny banner to show for it, I won Best Character Vid (Ronon) in the Stargate Fan Awards! Lonely Day was my first Ronon vid and I still watch it occasionally. I’m going to wait until I have my banner before I post on ZeroMuch, but um, yay me!

When I got my email from the Human Rights Campaign titled “Election 2006-We Did It!” I felt sick. No, we didn’t do it. All that was accomplished was the election of politicians who claim to be strong and just, but will inevitably weaken when the time comes to actually affect change. The issues, the only actual immediate and true results, were awful. Marriage bans were upheld or created in all voting states but Arizona, and that, pals is no “win”. True, there were strides made in the choice and stemcell research arenas, but the freedoms withheld from a significant portion of the USA can’t be overlooked with a “We Won” attitude.

Another atrocity is brewing in Massachusetts if newly elected governor Deval Patrick gets his way. This *chants to find non-childish word* politician wants to grant in-state tuition rates to “undocumented citizens”. That’s right, kids. Being a good student born of tax-paying Americans is not good enough. You have to be here ILLEGALLY to get the good rates. It never ceases to amaze me that some people don’t understand what the word ILLEGAL means. Dressing it up as “undocumented citizen” (which I can barely force myself to type, let alone speak), doesn’t make them any more legal.

In this “We Are The World” “Kill Poverty” mentality, we are truly teaching the children of this country something, and it is NOT that hard work, respect, and perseverance are desired traits. We’re teaching them that if they wait long enough, someone is coming with a handout! Yay! It’s no wonder there is an utter lack of basic responsibility and respect in our schools today.

And so ends my political voice for now. Were I more educated and driven, perhaps I would attempt to “do something”, but unlike most other activists, I know my limitations.

Polls Show…

Leading in the race to be the most apathetic voter of the year:  Me!

Living in WV (or many places, to be honest), there isn’t much reason to get out and vote.  There aren’t even viable Republican candidates in any real races, and even if there were, I still wouldn’t vote for one of them.  I would vote ONLY if I truly believed in the candidate’s ability to work for all the issues I believe in, and since my beliefs are so scattered, that’s not likely to happen anytime soon.  I refuse to choose “the lesser of two evils” and be bothered by all the media hoopla of voting season.

The only race that ever means something deep to me is the BOE race where I work.  Since I don’t live in that county, I can’t vote for members anyway, so for me, Election Day is just a day to get out of work.

I almost wish the media wasn’t allowed to cover politics.  I don’t think we’re better or more informed for it.  There was a LOT less misinformation when town criers were all to be found.  I’m sick to death of simpleminded people being led one way or another by “something they read” from some biased, uneducated journalist.

*Whew*  Rant over.  Now I have to get Hobbit and Istar ready for their vet appointments.  I do not expect to make it through the day unscathed.
